Born on August 25th, 1948, in Leningrad.
In 1972 - graduated cum laude from the Military Medical Academy named after Kirov S.M.
From 1972 till 1973 - military service, Director of Medical Service, military unit of the Baltic Fleet.
From 1973 till 1989 - worked at the Military Medical Academy named after Kirov S.M., where he rose from the rank of post-graduate at the Department of Naval and Hospital therapeutics to a senior lecturer.
In 1976 - passed Ph.D. defense, and in 1987 - defended his D.'s dissertation.
From 1989 till 1994 - director of Army Medicine and Consulting Physician to the Army of the Central Military Clinical Hospital (CMCH) named after Mandryk P.V. - Deputy chief physician of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR.
From 1994 till 2012 - Head of the CMCH named after Mandryk P.V., from 2012 to 2014 - Head of the Medical Education and Clinic Center named after Mandryk P.V.
Since 1995 - Professor at the Department of Therapeutics, Head of the Doctors Improvement Department (with a course of naval therapeutics), Extension Course Institute for Medical Practitioners of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (2003—2011).
Since 1998 - Chief Physician-Consultant of the Navy, since 2003 till 2008 - Chief Cardiologist of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
In 1999 - elected member of the Russian Academy of Missile and Ammunition Sciences.
In 2005 - elected corresponding member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Russia.
In 2014 - elected corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Russia (as part of the accession of AMSR and RAAS to ASR).
From 2015 to the present - Professor, Department of Emergency Therapeutics of the branch office of the Military Medical Academy named after Kirov S. M.
Scientific activity
The main directions of scientific activity: development, scientific rationale and implementation of rational organizational forms helping affected, sick and wounded in various conditions of combat and daily activities. Conducts a study of the pathogenesis and clinic of diseases caused by the impact of the damaging factors of wartime on the body. The author of 675 scientific works, including 32 monographs.
38 Candidate and 14 D.'s dissertations were defended under his thesis supervision. Editor-in-chief of the “Clinical Medicine” journal, a member of the editorial boards of the journals "Heart", "Heart failure", "Clinical gerontology ”, "Military Medical Journal".
