В своей врачебной и научной деятельности выдающийся российский терапевт В.Х. Василенко уделял большое внимание вопросам методологии клинического диагноза и прогноза. Им сформулированы основные правила постановки диагноза, определена последовательность действий врача в диагностическом процессе, уточнены понятия «симптом» и «синдром», дано определение клинического прогноза и выделены его фазы, показана форма сообщения больному его прогноза.

In his medical and scientific work, the outstanding Russian therapeutist V. Kh. Vasilenko paid great attention to the methodology of clinical diagnosis and prognosis. He formulated the basic rules of diagnosis, determined the sequence of doctor's actions in the diagnostic process, clarified the concepts of «symptom» and «syndrome» , defined the clinical prognosis and highlighted its phases, showed the form of information to the patient about his prognosis.
